Opera Ball 2014: Passione, a celebration that opened San Francisco Opera’s 92nd season, began in San Francisco’s historic City Hall with a pre-performance cocktail reception and dinner for 700. Guests then proceeded to the War Memorial Opera House for Bellini’s bel canto masterpiece Norma, and then back to City Hall for a post-performance dance party with the Dick Bright Orchestra.
A highlight of the city’s red carpet season, Opera Ball: Passione raised funds for San Francisco Opera and the Opera Guild’s education and community programs. Co-chaired by Teresa Medearis and Cynthia L. Schreuder, the event also recognized San Francisco Opera Guild‘s 75 years of support for San Francisco Opera. Founded in 1939, San Francisco Opera Guild’s mission is to deliver opera educational programs for adults and families. Its five Bay Area chapters reach thousands annually through lectures and events that encourage appreciation of opera.
