New Oscar de la Renta Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia presented 70 looks from the Resort 2018 collection on a private beach at Incline Village, Lake Tahoe on August 5, 2107. The 48th annual Saks Fifth Avenue and the League to Save Lake Tahoe fashion show and lunch attracted some 650 guests and raised $1.1 million to keep Tahoe blue.

The Henri Rousseau-inspired tropical motifs and shades of citrus on evening gowns and luxurious day wear, it seemed to me, could please not only Oscar de la Renta’s longtime clients but also intrigue new loyalty. I thought the pants — available in denim (a first for the company!) — were a must-have in any color. As far as gowns, I narrowed it down to four: Â
