Saks Fifth Avenue and The League to Save Lake Tahoe welcomed Oscar de la Renta and presented 64 looks from his Oscar de la Renta Resort 2015 collection at a lakeside fashion show and lunch on August 2, 2014.  Now in its 45th year, the summertime tradition dates back to the late sixties, when Saks Fifth Avenue brought designer Bill Blass to share his collection with a few loyal clients and friends at Lake Tahoe.

This year raised a record-breaking $780,000 for The League to Save Lake Tahoe. Before the models came out, a live auction brought in $220,000. The highest bid item was a New York fashion week package purchased by Oscar de la Renta fan and Saks Fifth Avenue client Cyril Seligman. As for the runway, the gowns stole the show. The embroidered tulle and silk faille gowns in shocking pink, pale pink, aquamarine, and white were more than red carpet worthy.

For the third consecutive year, the event took place at the Schumacher Family estate in Incline Village on the north shore of the lake. Event chairs Barbara Brown, Heidi CaryJessica Hickingbotham, Hillary Marble and Edith Tobin welcomed some 600 supporters and guests. The experience was a first for Saks Fifth Avenue San Francisco’s new General Manager Robert Arnold-Kraft who said it was an honor to continue the annual tradition with Oscar de la Renta. Kraft stood in awe of the unique setting for the fashion show and luncheon and expressed pride in the funds raised to keep Tahoe blue.
