Victoria Yeager, Bill Lampkin and Janet Lampkin in the Picasso Blue Period - inspired gala dinner tent

The Bay Area’s biggest art bash of the year, SFMOMA‘s Modern Ball, attracted some 2,000 guests on April 25, 2012. Event designer Stanlee Gatti transformed the museum in a nod to Picasso with the artist’s Blue Period represented in the gala dinner tent. Walls draped in blue velvet and clear Lucite tables lit to neon blue from within created set the scene. The supper club, set in its own tent inspired by Picasso’s fascination with primitivism, featured lounge-style seating and shades of sand from floor to ceiling. Electro-funk duo Chromeo played in the museum’s soaring atrium.  Proceeds from the event enable SFMOMA to provide free access to innovative art and education programs.
