The GLIDE Legacy Committee, a group of young social entrepreneurs committed to continuing GLIDE’s 51-year legacy of love, leadership, and community, hosted its 6th Annual GLIDE Legacy Gala on August 22, 2015. The event attracted some 1,000 supporters including surprise guest Jidenna, who performed his hit “Classic Man.”
The Regency Ballroom filled with music, dance and tributes to Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic and World Figure Skating Champion, Chip Conley, hotel guru, traveling philosopher, speaker and author, and Chinaka Hodge, award-winning poet, educator, playwright and screenwriter. In addition to Jidenna, live entertainment included performances from the GLIDE Ensemble and Change Band and DJ KingMost.
“It’s a wonderful thing to see this young group of philanthropists inspire those around them to get involved and make change happen,” said GLIDE Co-founder and Minister of Liberation, Reverend Cecil Williams. “The enthusiasm, compassion, and drive of these young philanthropists will go a long way in bringing hope and inspiration to those who need it most,” added GLIDE Co-founder and Founding President, Janice Mirikitani.
All funds raised provide services to the poor and marginalized in San Francisco.
