U.S. Olympian Kristi Yamaguchi and her husband, NHL great Bret Hedican, 49ers Patrick Willis, Vernon Davis and Brian Jennings, Oakland Raiders Jon Alston and Chris Morris, San Francisco Giant Brian Wilson and former Giant Tyler Walker and San Jose Earthquakes Joe Cannon, Chris Leitch and Ryan Johnson, showed up and partied with some 200 underprivileged children and their families on December 7, 2009. Wender Weis Foundation for Children’s 13th annual event, Holiday Heroes at the Officers Club in San Francisco’s Presidio featured Beach Blanket Babylon performers, carolers, face painters, video games and stocking makers.
Event chairs Stacey Caen and Christopher Caen, Susan Solinsky Duryea and Paul Duryea, Lori Puccinelli Stern and Peter Stern, and Trish Loucks and Charlie Loucks, reached out for support. More than 400 responded, attended and donated. Wender Weis Foundation for Children is a nonprofit that serves at-risk kids in the Bay Area. This year marked the premiere of the Holiday Heroes event, formerly Halloween Heroes held in October.
