The 7th Annual GLIDE Legacy Gala honored three luminaries with 2016 Legacy Awards for their social impact on the San Francisco community and their commitment to GLIDE. Felicia Horowitz, philanthropist and human rights advocate received the Janice Mirikitani Award, Van Jones, President & Co-Founder of Dream Corps and CNN Political Contributor received the Reverend Cecil Williams Award (accepted on Jones’ behalf by Matt Haney), and Sarah Shourd, author, educator and prisoner rights advocate was honored with the Community Hero Award.

Some 1,000 guests danced to musical performances from DJ KingMost and the internationally renowned GLIDE Ensemble and Change Band under the musical direction of Clifford Coulter and Vernon Bush. Hosts included the GLIDE Legacy Committee with Reverend Cecil Williams, Janice Mirikitani and the GLIDE family. Event goers celebrated one of San Francisco’s most beloved and iconic organizations and learned how GLIDE is making an impact.
