BayKids Studios presented its 2nd Women in Motion: Lights. Camera. Healing! luncheon event featuring 21 tables decorated to represent 21 feature films, on March 4, 2015. Alexandra’s atop the Westin St. Francis Hotel was decked in Hollywood style thanks to event co-chairs Alison Caron and Suzy Lester and some 35 more volunteers who created tables. Heartwarming, laughter-inducing and magical films set the scene as guests focused on stories from new filmmakers — children facing serious medical challenges. Three BayKids stars, Lara Akmehmet, Kenna Stuck and Chayla Fisher, shared the experiences, inspirations and the newfound skills that allowed them to express themselves through the art of filmmaking. BayKids Studios, founded by Dave Spencer, currently serves children at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland.
Hooman Khalili and Marcus Osborne from Alice Radio and Breathe Radio emceed and brought a lively element of fun with a table design competition. The top three:
First place: Hairspray by Alli Murdoff and Jane Donahue
Second place: Up by Criss Deguzman and a committee of friends
Third place, a tie: Bridesmaids by Kelly Bligh and Amy Underwood and 50 Shades of Grey by Billy Harris
