Parca Auxiliary’s 26th annual luncheon, this year at the home of Amy and John Underwood in Hillsborough, California, felt like an escape to the Hamptons. The event took place on May 14, 2014, in the backyard of the Underwood’s white-shingled, beautiful, grand, yet unpretentious home, architecturally reminiscent of those in East Hampton. Inviting outdoor spaces furnished with a focus on family comfort opened to some 200 Parca supporters. An open-air fabric tent provided an east coast style backdrop over tables with cloths of blue and white. Event chairs Alli Fitzgerald and Jenny Vitro added to the summertime theme with a menu of lobster and prawn salad and tomatoes stuffed with watermelon, feta, pine nuts and mint, catered by Billy Harris of St. Clair’s.
Parca Auxiliary volunteers modeled fashions from Trina Turk and Sam Malouf Authentic Luxury on a catwalk with the home’s French doors serving as the backdrop. Even the guests turned out in Hampton’s style, wearing shades of white, blue or bright clothing, and some summer hats.
The result: Over $200,000 raised for the Parca Organization that serves people with developmental difficulties and their families in the Bay Area. Parca provides opportunities for disabled people of all ages that help them experience choice, control, and individuality in every aspect of their lives.
