Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, also known as TNDC, celebrated 33 years providing safe, affordable housing and support services for low-income people in San Francisco on May 8, 2014. The uplifting evening co-chaired by Radha Stern and Gary Maxworthy, also commemorated the first anniversary of TNDC’s Kelly Cullen Community. Kelly Cullen Community is one of three pilot programs in the United States that combine housing, social services and healthcare for chronically homeless people. By integrating affordable housing, care management and health services in one place, TNDC and its partners improve wellness for vulnerable men and women otherwise caught in a revolving door of emergency rooms, detox centers and other crisis service agencies.
Darryl Smith and Laurie Lazar, co-founders of The Luggage Store Gallery, received The Brother Kelly Cullen Community Service Award for their three decades of leadership in the San Francisco neighborhood art scene.
