San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will honor media art pioneer Jim Campbell with its annual Bay Area Treasure Award at a presentation and dinner on October 23, 2012, organized by SFMOMA’s Modern Art Council. The festivities will begin with a champagne reception beneath Campbell’s suspended installation, Exploded Views, a large-scale cinematic sculpture that features 3,000 flickering LED lights, in SFMOMA’s Haas Atrium. The celebration will continue at the St. Regis Hotel with dinner and conversation between Campbell, SFMOMA Curator of Media Arts Rudolf Frieling, and San Francisco-based media artist Scott Snibbe.
