House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi joined the fifth annual Y For Youth Luncheon as the featured speaker on March 18, 2016, at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Pelosi’s remarks focused on bringing the community together in support of local youth, and the effectiveness of the YMCA of San Francisco Youth programs in particular. Her speech echoed firsthand experience relayed from Youth Chance High School senior Rajghana Spikes, YMCA Reach and Rise Mentoring alumnus Maverick Bishop and YMCA of San Francisco president Chuck Collins. The annual fundraiser also honored World Champion Golden State Warrior Festus Ezeli with the Outstanding Community Leader award for his ongoing commitment of time and support to the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA.
