CHANEL has a loyal following in San Francisco, yet the boutique here is one of the brand’s smallest stores. That is about to change! The company is showing its client appreciation by investing in a much larger flagship store at Union Square, opening to the public on Friday, November 20, 2009. The new Chanel boutique is a 7,900 square foot, three-story building by architect Peter Marino. Shoppers will find Chanel ready-to-wear, accessories such as costume jewelry, small leather goods, and handbags, fragrance, makeup, and skincare. In keeping with the brand identity, the palate is clean with custom, hand-plastered walls, and Cabuca stone floors. The entrances to the boutique are on Maiden Lane or Geary Street. From either side the centerpiece and wow-factor is visible, a 25-foot display wall of black metal and glass.
