Bouquets to Art, Fine Arts Museums’ annual flower and art showcase, opened for its 30th year at the de Young Museum with a celebration gala and preview event on March 17, 2014. Some 800 supporters came out for the first glimpse of floral installations inspired by art in the de Young’s permanent collection, and created by a select group of Bay Area designers. Also on the scene this year, models wearing one-of-a-kind dresses made entirely of flowers and leaves by students from City College of San Francisco’s Environmental Horticulture and Floristry programs.
In addition to pairing floral designs with art in the museum, the weeklong annual exhibition features an extensive program of floral design demonstrations and activities for all ages. Bouquets to Art is organized and produced by the volunteer members of the San Francisco Auxiliary of the Fine Arts Museums. Funds raised support acquisitions, special exhibitions and education programs for the de Young and Legion of Honor.
