The fourth annual Birds of a Feather hat luncheon presented by the San Francisco Zoological Society Auxiliary served as a benefit event for the newly opened South American Tropical Forest and Aviary at the Zoo. Some 100 birds of a feather donned unique hats and flocked together for a celebratory lunch at The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus on October 14, 2015.
San Francisco Zoo and Gardens South American Tropical Forest and Aviary is a realistic rainforest ecosystem filled with colorful free-flight birds, exotic plants and trees, a two-toed sloth, and the Zoo’s first significant herpetological collection. The new exhibit highlights environmental threats facing rainforests, as well as the devastating effects of the illegal pet trade on South American wildlife.
