Some of the brightest stars of film and television gathered for the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 29, 2017. On live television they celebrated, honored and recognized their peers.
The show kicked off with its signature opening sequence, “I am an actor …” followed by personal affirmations and candid moments. The strict two-hour runtime focused only on the performers and winners without commentary from a host. From the spontaneous flashes of joy (Danielle Brooks), humor (Lily Tomlin) and surprise (Winona Ryder), to the heartfelt sincerity (Taraji P. Henson) displayed throughout, the talented photographers at Getty Images captured the moments. Some of my favorites:
