San Francisco Opera celebrated the opening of its 90th season with a gala opening night at the War Memorial Opera House, highlighted by Opera Ball 2012: Notte di Splendore: A 90th Anniversary Celebration. The dinner, chaired by Diane Rubin and Cathy MacNaughton for San Francisco Opera Guild, was sold-out at the entry level of $1,000 per place setting before invitations were mailed in late July.  Some 830 benefactors filled the tent and cocktail reception prior to the Rigoletto performance.
