We shared some of our favorite opulent gowns at San Francisco Opera’s opening gala on September 11, 2009, but what did the men wear? Top hats, red suspenders, white ties, vests, black ties, long ties, and lots of tuxedos. Joel Goodrich stood out in a black sequined jacket by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, one of only two in the world. The other belongs to the singer Usher. Karl Lagerfeld himself has one in silver. Joel complimented the jacket with a black diamond men’s tennis bracelet and ring by David Yurman. Also a standout, Marius Carlucci, debonair in a white satin Yves Saint Laurent jacket with black trim paired with a Prada shirt and tie. Medical student Alex Zider‘s classic black Ralph Lauren tuxedo hid a set of red suspenders that matched his mother Linda’s red Escada gown.
