The San Francisco Social is an event designed by restaurateur Anderson Pugash (Palm House, Bergerac) to inform young adults about local charities. Inspired by his late father Jim Pugash who believed giving back could start at any age, Pugash began throwing annual parties for young professionals in 2005. The first was a benefit for the Sonoma Jazz Festival, an event founded by his father and mother, Stephanie Pugash.
Since then, every two years, Pugash and The San Francisco Social team choose a worthwhile charity and invite young professionals and philanthropists to a benefit event and rockin’ party. On November 8, 2014, a group of 600 civic-minded young people gathered at the W Hotel in San Francisco for the 9th annual event and benefit for San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. Past beneficiaries include Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, KIPP Bay Area Schools and Larkin Street Youth Services.
