San Francisco Opera Ball 2014 co-chairs Teresa Medearis and Cynthia Schreuder welcomed past Opera Ball chairs and patrons to a cocktail reception on June 4, 2014, at the St. Regis Hotel. Plans were announced for the opening of San Francisco Opera’s 92nd season.
The opening night on September 5th will be highlighted by Opera Ball 2014: Passione and the performance of Vincenzo Bellini’s bel canto masterwork Norma. American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky will star in the dramatic new production conducted by music director Nicola Luisotti.
Beginning at 5 pm, Roman legionnaires will welcome guests on the red carpet in San Francisco’s landmark City Hall, transformed into Julius Caesar’s imperial palace for the occasion by internationally acclaimed event stylist J. Riccardo Benavides of Ideas. At 8 pm, the curtain will rise at the historic War Memorial Opera House for Norma. Following the performance, patrons will return to City Hall for cocktails, desserts, and dances while the Dick Bright Orchestra plays. As usual, Opera Ball is expected to sell out.
