The Red Cross Gala raised nearly $600,000 and served as a tribute to the Bay Area’s first responders, on April 2, 2016. The annual gala not only benefits the Red Cross preparedness, response, and recovery programs and services, but also raises awareness of the vital role the Red Cross plays in local and global communities.
Some 350 supporters gathered in the historic Julia Morgan Ballroom at the Merchants Exchange Building in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District for the sold out event. Chaired by Lillian Phan and Ezra Garret, the evening included caviar and cocktails, dinner, a live auction, and dancing. “Together, our gala committee of volunteers worked for months to build an occasion that not only does justice to our Red Cross mission, but finds a powerful example of the mission personified in our local leaders,” Gala co-chair Lillian Phan said. “These individuals literally protect us and save precious lives. They work with the Red Cross year-round to provide help and hope to local residents.”
