GLIDE Legacy Gala at August Hall

The GLIDE Ensemble with soloist Dennis Hersey

The 9th Annual GLIDE Legacy Gala welcomed over 800 guests for a night of dancing, music, awards, and celebration on August 4th at August Hall in San Francisco. For social impact and commitment, civil rights and racial justice advocate Lateefah Simon accepted the Reverend Cecil Williams Legacy Award and Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza received the Janice Mirikitani Legacy Award. Musical performances from the internationally renowned GLIDE Ensemble and The Change Band, beats by DJ KingMost, and drinks and delicious hors-d’oeuvres from some of San Francisco’s best spots kept the party lively.

Each summer for the past nine years, GLIDE Co-founders Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani, and the extended GLIDE family gather for the Legacy Gala in support of GLIDE’s half-century legacy of love, leadership, and community.
