San Francisco Decorator Showcase at Le Petit Trianon
The San Francisco Decorator Showcase at the historic Le Petit Trianon, 3800 Washington Street in Presidio Heights, will feature 36 of the west coast’s top interior and landscape designers. Le Petit Trianon is an 18,000 + sq ft mansion and a San Francisco Landmark listed with the National Register of Historic Places.
The home was built in 1904 for Marcus and Cora Koshland, a prominent San Francisco family that made a fortune in wool and textiles. They modeled their home after Le Petit Trianon at the Palace Versailles in Paris. Upon completion, the Koshlands opened the home with a lavish Marie Antoinette inspired costume ball. The house features nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a spacious marble rotunda. A grand marble staircase leads to a front terrace and a three-story atrium. The lower levels accommodate several large entertaining rooms with hardwood floors, wood-beamed ceilings, intricate crown molding, and ceiling treatments. The upper floor features views of the Presidio and the San Francisco Bay.
The San Francisco Decorator Showcase is a benefit for the San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program and will take place from April 27 – May 27, 2019. This year’s designers have an impressive challenge because the house was originally featured as a Decorator Showcase in 1982.
