UCSF Partners in Care, a fundraising auxiliary for UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, presented its fourth annual Cirque du Soirée benefit event at the Bently Reserve in San Francisco on November 19, 2015. Some 150 supporters gathered to honor Kathy Balistreri for 40 years of leadership and commitment. Revelers experienced circus-style performances and had their fortunes read by Gregangelo & Velocity Arts and Entertainment. They tossed rings for bottles of wine, dined on lion-sized appetizers from Barbara Llewellyn Catering, and danced to DJ Von Woo.
UCSF Partners in Care funds programs that provide comfort and well-being to hospital patients and their families. Medical Center doctors, nurses and hospital staff identify special services and programs that help alleviate the stress, pain and confinement that patients and their families’ may experience. For example, wellness and healing programs for the Cancer Resource Center, bereavement support for families that have lost a child or loved one, support for cancer patients in need of prostheses, clothing and wigs, or sleep chairs for families and visitors unable to leave the bedside of a loved one in critical condition.
