Nowadays a fashion magazine cover featuring a black model’s face is not unique, but in 1968 Katiti Kironde‘s face was the first. In honor of the 41st anniversary of the historic event, Kironde’s daughter, San Franciscan Mireille Shwartz invited a few friends to meet her mother at an intimate garden party at her home in Presidio Heights. Currently, Katita Kironde is working on a clothing line, “Essential by Katita Kironde,” will debut in 2010.
