The 11th annual Fashion on the Square featured designs on the runway from NFL star Marshawn Lynch (Beast Mode), fashion designer Michael Costello, opera singer and fashion designer Radmila Lolly, Dark Garden Corsetry and Couture, and Rebecca Cahua Swim.
Fashion on the Square started in 2006 as a one-day show held outdoors at Union Square. Since then, its focus has extended beyond fashion with performance artists and a fundraising component.  FOTS+TheArts is a nonprofit that raises funds for students who blend fashion and art in their collections. This year, fashion designer and opera singer Radmila Lolly not only showed her collection, but also performed with a four piece string orchestra and nine voice choir. Lolly is a classically trained soprano who sings in Russian, German, Latin, English, Italian and Spanish.
From NFL star athlete to fashion designer, Marshawn Lynch showcased his Beast Mode collection for the first time on the runway at Fashion on the Square on November 13, 2016 in San Francisco.  Lynch opened his first Beast Mode store in Oakland in 2015. The collection is meant for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, age, culture, or size.
Michael Costello is nationally known for his dresses and gowns worn by celebrities such as Beyonce, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah, Tracee Ellis Ross and Christina Aguilera. His reputation grew after an appearance on Project Runway several years ago. Red Carpet Bay Area viewers may recall meeting him in 2015, when we introduced the House of Borel.
