Save October 16, 2009, for the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund signature event, This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse. Guests of Dame Bella Farrow and Hilary Newsom Callan caught a preview at Clift’s Spanish Suite where 40 handbags for the upcoming auction were displayed.
Highlights from donations already received include a stunning JP Tod’s shoulder bag from actress Sharon Stone, a vintage Hermes Birken bag from philanthropist and designer Ann Getty, two Judith Leiber evening boxes from producer Jo Schuman Silver, and a classic from Tiffany & Co.
Over 200 handbags will be available for bidding at the main event on Friday, October 16, at the W Hotel in San Francisco. Jason Lewis, from Sex and the City, will emcee.
Breast Cancer Emergency Fund provides emergency financial assistance to low-income Bay Area women battling Breast Cancer. Because of the generosity of Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo, and other local sponsors and patrons, 100 percent of ticket sales will directly benefit BCEF clients.
