China fashion designer Sheguang Hu made his American debut at the finale for Chinatown International Fashion Week in the Bay Area on November 4, 2015. Watch the video:
You may have seen Sheguang Hu’s creations at the opening ceremony for the Olympics in Beijing, or on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Couture designer Sheguang Hu, originally from Mongolia, spent 25 years in Holland. Now he is back in Beijing and at the top of the couture world in China.
The collection he presented at Chinatown International Fashion Week in the Bay Area was inspired by Chinese royalty, and the strong, powerful and lovely women of China. The inaugural Chinatown International Fashion Week featured both Eastern and Western fashion designers who use Chinoiserie, or Chinese motifs and techniques, in Western style. The idea to produce a global Chinatown International Fashion Week came from Monique Zhang.
