The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women is a campaign and a movement aimed at dispelling myths and raising awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of women. Heart disease is often silent, hidden and misunderstood. To help, Patricia Sprincin led an inaugural Go Red Strut for Women event in San Francisco on February 14, 2012. Some 100 “Strutters” wore red to Union Square and walked the catwalk to draw attention to heart disease prevention, as well as other causes important to their hearts. Katie Budge and Marsha Monro strutted for UCSF Partners in Care, Dolly Chammas for SFMOMA, Ann Girard for San Francisco Opera Guild, PJ Handeland for Arthritis Foundation, and Anette Harris and Schuyler Hudak for Junior League of San Francisco.
