Victoria Yeager, one of Red Carpet Bay Area’s Top Women of Style 2009, is smart (a lawyer by profession), fashionable, and an effective philanthropic leader in the San Francisco community.

An overview of Victoria’s red carpet style in 2009:

Style Q&A with Victoria Yeager, a woman whose style we admired all year long:

Whose red carpet style do you admire?  Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman both regularly wear stunning dresses on the red carpet and exude old Hollywood glamour, but if I have to choose one person, it’s Cate Blanchett.  She experiments with different looks and can be a bit daring in her fashion choices, which I respect, and, in the end, she consistently looks effortlessly elegant on the red carpet.

Do you have personal rules when deciding what to wear for a black-tie event, or one that calls for cocktail attire?  My only rules are to (1) feel good in and have fun with what I am wearing, and (2) be cognisant of the venue, the occasion and what other guests are wearing and choose accordingly — sometimes it is appropriate to be a bit dramatic and sometimes understated is the order of the day.

Please share a fashion “Don’t.” Don’t shop without a trusted friend or professional who will tell you honestly how things look on you.  It’s so easy to fall in love with a trend or look seen on someone else, or a mannequin, but what matters is whether, and how, that look translates onto you.  It is important to make sure a piece is flattering from all angles, and mirrors can be misleading…

Which are your top three beauty products?  Cle de Peau concealer (for pale skin the beige color blends seamlessly and provides great coverage without getting cakey), CHANEL No. 5 Body Satin Spray (smells wonderful and leaves skin satiny soft), and black “Ultra-Volume” mascara by Terry (no clumps).  Sunscreen is also a must, I use La Roche Possay’s Anthelios.  Finally, they are not really a “beauty product,” but every women should have a pair of large dark sunglasses, as they can hide all manner of sins.

Please share a beauty tip.  After trying myriad “miracle creams” I have learned that a beauty product is not necessarily better just because it costs more.  For example, my favorite cleanser is Cetaphil from the drug store.
