To Fill or Not to Fill?

Cheryl Pierce of Ageless Beauty Skin Clinic in San Francisco helps patients answer the question daily.  Cheryl uses injectable dermal fillers as treatments for plumping lips, removing wrinkles and softening facial creases.  Most often, Botox, Juvederm and Restalyne are her recommendations because they offer practically immediate results and no downtime:Botox and DySport are brand names for botulinum toxins, derived from bacteria and purified, that are injected for temporary reduction or elimination of frown lines, forehead creases and crows feet around the eyes.  Injections block muscular nerve signals, which then weaken the muscle so that it is unable to contract.  Average results last about three months.

Juvederm and Restylane are synthetic, injectible forms of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body’s connective tissue, joint fluid and skin. Because of this, allergic reactions are extremely rare. Juvederm and Restalyne temporarily add volume to facial tissue, smoothing moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, most often around the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and nasolabia folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth). Most patients need one treatment and the results can last for up to a year.
