Dress for Success is not only about fashion. It is an international organization dedicated to empowering women by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. “Dress for Success San Francisco helps women secure employment, advance their careers, change their lives and the lives of their families. Our organization provides a continuum of services so that we can address the needs of every woman at every stage of her career. Our annual event is an evening of inspiration and transformation as we celebrate our greatest achievements, the success stories of the women we serve and the lives we change as a result of our career programming,” said Renée Surcouf, Executive Director of Dress for Success San Francisco.

It is not news to anyone that we judge others based on their clothing and appearance. In general, studies show that people prefer clothing that matches expectations—bankers in suits, surgeons in scrubs and job candidates dressed appropriately. Will dressing properly get you the job? Of course not, but the clothes you wear can affect your mental and physical performance, as well as give you a competitive edge and a positive first impression. In job-hunting, first impressions are critical.

Success: You Wear It Well will begin with a cocktail reception and tastings from some of the best female chefs in the Bay Area and a silent auction followed by dinner, a live auction and fashion show. Top women chefs include Sharon Nahm of E&O Kitchen & Bar, Trish Tracey of Myriad Gastropub, Patti Dellamonica of One Market Restaurant and Kimberly Bulger of Scala’s Bistro. The fashion show will feature looks from looks from Talbots and from JAKE by Jake Wall and Blake Patterson, contestants on Season 14 of Project Runway. Benefit Cosmetics and Beauty Brigade will style Dress for Success clients as models.

Funds raised will directly support Dress for Success San Francisco career programs including its Professional Women’s Group, Career Center, Suiting Program and Job Search Program.
