The Imperial Dinner at City Hall follows the Festival Reception and Concert at Davies Symphony Hall

San Francisco Symphony welcomed the Year of the Ram at its 15th Annual Lunar New Year Concert and Celebration in Davies Symphony Hall and in City Hall on February 21, 2015. The celebrations, chaired by Iris Chan, began with an afternoon festival and reception for all ticket holders, with family-friendly entertainment and activities including arts and crafts, lion dancing, and Chinese calligraphy, complimentary food, desserts and tea bars. The concert began with a dragon dance at 3:00pm and featured orchestral works influenced by both Eastern and Western musical traditions, conducted by Mei-Ann Chen.

After the concert, some 500 guests attended an elegant Lunar New Year Imperial Dinner, chaired by An Chen. Dragon dancers appeared once again, this time on the grand staircase at City Hall. All proceeds benefit the Orchestra’s myriad community outreach and education programs, which provide music education to more than 75,000 Bay Area school children each year.
