Royal Style by Vasily Vein — Russian born fashion designer Vasily Vein creates gowns appropriate for an Empress and dresses fit for a princess at a small studio in Sausalito. “I want each and every one of my clients to feel like royalty,” he says. A graduate of the Institute of Art in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, Vein moved to the Bay Area from Moscow in 2008, seeking political asylum. He makes extravagant gowns and custom dresses for private clients using a modest worktable, a Janome sewing machine and a mannequin. Red Carpet Bay Area profiled his work, standouts on the red carpet, in 2015.

Less than two months into 2016, gowns and dresses by Vasily Vein were spotted on Judy Davies, Vanessa Jean-Baptiste, Rada Katz, Marybeth La Motte, Sonya Molodetskaya, Clara Shayevich and Brenda Zarate. Vein uses silk, lace, taffeta, brocade and tulle. It takes him just two weeks or so to make a dress, and a month or two for a custom gown. Prices range from $1,000 to $5,000. Visit his website for contact information and to make an appointment.
