Hope by Design, the volunteer-led Red Cross Gala co-chaired by Susan Atherton and Gwyneth Borden and honoring Lloyd Dean, CEO of Dignity Health, raised more than 1.3 million dollars on April 6, 2013. Some 800 business and community leaders, members of the San Francisco International Consular Corps and Bay Area philanthropists gathered at the Concours Exhibition Center in San Francisco. The benefit event for local disaster relief included dinner and a concert featuring eight-time Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight.
