Soirée 2017 – Summer of Love – at the historic Ritz-Carlton Hotel (San Francisco Landmark #167) will be a psychedelic celebration of the Summer of Love on its 50th anniversary! Experience the landmarks, luminaries, and legacy businesses of Haight-Ashbury and the sights and sounds of the Sixties. Music by San Francisco’s Summer of Love Revue.
The Ritz-Carlton’s 1909 white neoclassical façade will be bathed in Summer of Love-inspired purple. A vintage Volkswagen bus parked inside for photos. Come in black tie or a creative circa-1967 costume — clothing required!
Proceeds from Soirée 2017 will benefit The Landmark Fund, a newly launched program by San Francisco Heritage that aims to ensure that the city’s historic landmarks and legacy businesses fully reflect the diversity of its people and places. Historic designation is the most effective and proactive way to safeguard important places from demolition, destruction, and displacement. The Landmark Fund will nominate 50 buildings, districts, businesses, and nonprofits for landmark or legacy designation over the next five years.
