San Francisco Symphony’s 2017-2018 season will celebrate the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein, one of the greatest composers, conductors, and educators of the 20th century. The season kicks off with an Opening Night Gala and Concert featuring superstar YoYo Ma with Michael Tilson Thomas and the Symphony Orchestra.
The concert opens with Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, commencing a season-long celebration of the composer’s centenary. Yo-YoMa performs two of the most beloved works from the cello repertoire–Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme and the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1. Ravel’s Boléro wraps up the evening’s concert program.
All opening night concertgoers are invited to continue the celebration at the After-Party, which includes cocktails, live music, and dancing.
Make a whole night of it! Four unique Dinner Packages that include premium seating for the concert are available.
