Chanel Reopens in San Francisco

Chanel Reopens in San Francisco
Denise Hale and Peter Marino

November 20, 2009 — Vanessa Getty and Samantha Traina, along with some 300 friends and family members gathered for a celebration of the newly reopened Chanel Boutique at 155 Maiden Lane Maiden Lane, near Union Square. Guests partied outside the store in a black and white tent built for the occasion, as well as inside the new three-story 7,900 square foot store.

San Francisco’s fashionable crowd turned out — a majority of the women in Chanel and most of the men in dark suits. New York architect and long-time Chanel collaborator Peter Marino was an exception and a standout in head-to-toe leather. Mr. Marino redesigned the San Francisco store, unifying the unique and narrow space and adapting the brand’s icons within.
