About George Mark Children’s House

Situated on five picturesque acres in San Leandro, California, George Mark is the first freestanding pediatric palliative care center in the United States and the leader in the pediatric palliative care movement. Since 2004, the exceptional staff has served more than 3,000 children, parents, and siblings.

“We provide safe, superior care to children in the comfort and warmth of a home-like setting, and we extend this support to their families who never see a bill for the medical care provided,” explained Founder and Board President Kathy Hull, whose recent TED Talk has garnered international attention. “We are deeply grateful to our supporters, who have helped us to improve the quality of lives of these children while providing a compassionate, supportive atmosphere.”

Families with a patient at George Mark never see a medical bill, and its model of care is offered at significantly less cost than that of an acute care hospital facility.
