49ers Academy Soirée

Soirée (noun): a party or gathering held in the evening, especially in someone’s home. Red Carpet Bay Area rates the 49ers Academy Soiree on September 28, 2013, tops in the category! Celebrity chefs Michael Mina and Bradley Ogden teamed up with Greg St. Claire‘s Avenir Restaurant Group to provide a progressive spread with wines from Robert Foley, Schramsberg, Skipstone and Tusk, just to name a few, throughout the yard. The feast led to a seated live auction and dessert finale, followed by a private concert and dancing to ’80’s pop and punk sensation, The English Beat.

The location: the Atherton home of Georgetown, Yale and Harvard Law School alumnus, and Facebook’s former chief privacy officer Chris Kelly, and his just as impressive wife, lawyer Jennifer Carrico. They welcomed some 280 supporters for the annual 49ers Academy ‘Under the Stars‘ benefit event and raised $400,000.

The beneficiary: 49ers Academy‘s small, nurturing environment for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students living in the heart of East Palo Alto’s most challenged neighborhood.

Not only known for their generosity and philanthropy, Chris Kelly and Jennifer Carrico also represent innovative companies and are known for their work to make the Internet a safer place for both children and adults.
